Comms room rebuild and out-of-hours switch migration

The brief

A comms room that had grown organically for years needed rebuilding around new switching — without the business noticing. All cutover work was scheduled out of hours.

• New switches racked, powered across diverse feeds, and uplinked
• The live patching estate re-dressed loom by loom onto cable management bars — traced, migrated, re-labelled
• Rear-of-rack power and stacking leads dressed and restrained clear of serviceable modules
• Phased out-of-hours cutovers with agreed rollback points for every stage

The detail that matters

Rebuilding a live room is a sequencing exercise: nothing gets unplugged until its destination is labelled, tested and ready. The photos show the result — a room the IT team can finally reason about.

Handover

Updated patch records, port maps for the new switching, and a labelled room handed back before the first user logged in.
